Kill Dil couldn’t quite recover after a below average weekend at the box office. The only hopes for the Shaad Ali directed flick to stay afloat were to have minimal drop over the weekdays. However, Monday registering a 50% drop from Friday, it was pretty much a given that the film didn’t quite stand much of a chance to benefit from any sort of word of mouth.
The film saw further drops on weekdays as well and with weekend too on the lower side, the eventual collections accumulated to just around 29 crore. Now these were the bare minimum collections expected on the weekend itself, not the entire week. Since Happy Ending is releasing this week, one doesn’t see this Yash Raj film covering much of a distance in its second week. As a result, the film’s collections would be 35 crore at maximum, which is pretty low for a Ranveer Singh starrer commercial entertainer.
There are massive expectations from the young star and he should be bouncing back pretty soon with Dil Dhadakne Do. On the other hand Parineeti Chopra, who had a disappointing run with Daawat-e-Ishq, would be on a short break before picking on her next. As for Ali Zafar, one now waits to see when does his next film Tere Bin Laden 2 hit the screens that should turn around things for him. Shaad Ali is yet to announce his next film. As for Yash Raj Films, they would now move on to Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, which is carrying some good vibes and should start the campaign for them in 2015.
