SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 is set to hit the big screen in China this week and the film has fetched fairly positive response as far as the advance booking at the box office is concerned. The distributors have allotted over 40,000 shows to the film on its opening day which is higher than the likes of Dangal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Till now, the film has sold approximately 62,000 tickets in advance, which has resulted in cumulative gross collection for the opening day worth USD $ 0.35 Million.
The advance ticket sales for Baahubali 2 is expected to close at $0.50 Million, and given the massive release that the film is getting in the country, the opening day collections are expected to be better than Dangal (USD $ 2.49 Million) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (USD $ 2.24 Million). The film will however fall short of Hindi Medium (USD $ 3.42 Million) and Secret Superstar (USD $ 6.79 Million) by a substantial margin.
While Dangal, Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan recorded a strong trend in China, Hindi Medium failed to capitalize on the solid start that it got at the Box-Office, none the less it was a fairly successful venture. The current highest grossing Hindi film in China is Dangal followed by Secret Superstar. The third slot is occupied by Bajrangi Bhaijaan followed by Hindi Medium and PK.
It would be interesting to see the kind of trend Baahubali 2 records in China as the film would face massive competition from Avengers: Infinity War from the second week onwards.
