Hamari Adhuri Kahani starring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkummar Rao is all set to hit the theaters this week. Being directed by Mohit Suri, the film was expected to be high on its music quotient since he has an eye for hit music. The album has five songs composed by mixed artists and each one has a special touch.

Humari Adhuri Kahani – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

The title track of Hamari Adhuri Kahani is one song which immediately impresses you with its heart-melting lyrics and vocals of Arijit Singh. The song has a spell-binding quality as it revels on the theme of love and separation. Arijit succeeds in truly touching your soul with his honest singing. This song has a quality to literally grow on you and I could listen to it on loop. Jeet Ganguly gets touches the right chords and this emotional track is one of the best songs from the album.

Humnava – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

Just like Banjaara from Ek Villain made you actually emotional with its lyrical brilliance, Humnava is another song on the same lines that truly enthralls you with its emotional quotient. Papon has sung this song and well, he excels at giving it the right feel. Mithoon yet again shows his quality to come up with sad songs that are completely soulful. The violin piece works just fine for this ballad which captures the true essence of longing in love. Humnava is another gem from the album and it is equally as good as the title track.

Hasi – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

Hasi has been composed by Ami Mishra and there are two versions to it. Shreya Ghoshal sings the female version and the light instruments in this song are a delightful blend with her voice. The composer himself sings the male version and he almost goes the Ankit Tiwari way. Yet, there is something missing in the male version which some how Shreya fulfills with her sugary voice. Amongst the other compositions, this one stands a little lower and may not enjoy as much longevity as others.

Ye Kaisi Jagah – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

Another romantic track from the album is Yeh Kaisi Jagah. The song wins you over with Deepali Saathe’s vocals. Her voice compliments the soft music of the song. The flute portions in the song are brilliant and blend well with the guitar. The song captures the ‘being in love’ feeling quite aptly and it is surely a heart-warming track from the album.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani Encore – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

Composer Jeet Ganguly sings an encore of Hamari Adhuri Kahani title track and well, it is a little disappointing. Arijit Singh already takes you on a level with his brilliant vocals and hence Jeet’s version does not match up to it. The composer’s unclear diction also hampers the listener from enjoying this soulful track.

The Last Word – Hamari Adhuri Kahani Music Review

The Hamari Adhuri Kahani album is a a soulful album with five songs that are an absolute delight. The title track and Humnava stand out from the rest of the tracks and will certainly stick for long even after the film loses its buzz. Composers such as Mithoon, Jeet Ganguly, Ami Mishra come together for this album and they do create some magic. I am going with a 4/5 for this album.
