Rating: 3.5/5 stars (Three and half stars)

Music Director/s: Sachin-Jigar

User Rating:

Badlapur is a petite album with just three songs composed by Sachin-Jigar. Good things come in small packages and this album is a classic example of that. All three songs are certainly worth listening to on the loop and they blend well with the theme of the film.

Jee Karda – Badlapur Music Review

Rarely do we come across songs which have the quality to grow on you and Jee Karda is one of those. The song is full of pain and angst, it literally makes you cringe, the way that it has been sung. Divya Kumar makes for an impressive vocalist, leaves one completely mesmerized with this song. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the song is a soft rock version with a powerful voice. This is one of the best tracks from the album.

There is a also a seperate rock version to this song. Jee Karda‘s rock version is even better with its energetic heavy metal stuff. Both the original and the rock version have a different level of angst that makes them electrifying.

Jeena Jeena – Badlapur Music Review

Atif Aslam is a rockstar when it comes to singing songs that have romance involved. Jeena Jeena is a soft melody that I can hear on loop. It is a typical love song that wins you over with its lyrics and musical arrangements. After long, this seems to be a slow number which is very different from the ‘Ankit Tiwari’ genre that is becoming a staple in Bollywood.

Jeena Jeena also has a remix version which has a fast pace and sounds decent but lacks the quality of its original. It is quite an unnecessary addition to the album.

Judaai – Badlapur Music Review

Judaai sung by Rekha Bhardwaj and Arijit Singh is an extremely beautiful composition. This song is all about the feel and full of emotions. It is a sad song that one may listen to on loop to feel better in times of low. Both Rekha and Arijit give their best and the soft musical arrangements give it the required calm. This song once again shows how versatile Sachin-Jigar are since they are also the composers who have given us peppy numbers in the past.

Last Word – Badlapur Music Review

Badlapur is a praiseworthy album as the composers manage to weave and album with just three songs and all are full of flavour. Quality rules over quantitu in this album and so I am going with a 3.5/5 for this album.
