Biography: Satish Shah, born as Satish Ravilal Shah is an Indian actor working in Marathi and Hindi films. He has also appeared on the small screen where he played numerous comic roles. One of his famous appearances was in the television series ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, directed by Manjul Sinha and Kundan Shah. His performance in the 1983 Kundan Shah directed ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ as Municipal Commissioner D’Mello was greatly appreciated by all. Throughout his career, Satish has given to us numerous character roles in various films and television shows. His very first films were ‘Toofani Takkar’ and ‘Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan’, both released in the year 1978. Next up in 1979 he appeared in ‘Gaman’ directed by Muzaffar Ali and starring Gita Siddharth, Smita Patil, Nana Patekar, Sulabha Deshpande, Jalal Agha and Farooq Shaikh. Two years later he signed up for Muzaffar Ali’s ‘Umrao Jaan’ starring Bharat Bhushan, Raj Babbar, Gajanan Jagirdar, Prema Narayan, Dina Pathak, Shaukat Kaifi, Umme Farwa, Naseeruddin Shah, Farooq Shaikh, Seema Sathyu and Rekha. That very year his second film ‘Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai’ was released. This film, which was directed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza had Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi in its cast crew. This film won the 1981 Filmfare Critics Award for the Best Film. This was followed by a list of other films such as ‘Ardh Satya’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Meri Kahaani’, ‘Love 86’, ‘Amit’ and several others. In the year 1994, Satish appeared in Kundan Shah’s ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ starring Shahrukh Khan, Deepak Tijori and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. The very same year, he was seen in other films such as ‘Ghar Ki Izzat’, ‘Anokha Prem Yudh’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, ‘Stuntman’ and ‘Teesra Kaun’. In 1995 Satish signed up for Aditya Chopra’s ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, starring Shahrukh Khan, Anupam Kher, Kajol, Farida Jalal and Amrish Puri. Some of his recent films include ‘Ra. One’ (2011), ‘Tukkaa Fitt’ (2012) and ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ (2013).

Apart from films, some of his television projects include Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Sarabhai VS Sarabhai, All the best, Nehle Pe Dehla, Philips top 10, Filmi Chakkar, Dhamaal, Ghar Jamai and Filmi Chakkar. He had also been a judge at the very famous Comedy Circus television reality show.
